Visit Cambodia
Cambodia is a wonderful country, full of beauty and history
Why Is Everybody Going to Cambodia?
Writer Matt Gross answered this question in a New York Times article published on January 22, 2006.
Why, indeed? Well,as someone who's made 25 plus trips there, I know the answer too. Cambodia is gorgeous! The food is just yummy! The people, history and culture are so will make you fall in love iwth the country and keep you coming back for more.

Hello Dear Readers!
Thank you for taking the time to check my site. I will try to update this site as often as I can, so come back soon!
This page contains tips and information about Cambodia that I hope will help make your trip wonderful and memorable. But be patient because I'm old--and this whole internet thing is still mindboggling! When I was in high school, I learned to type on an old fashion typwriter. When I graduated from college in 1993, internet had just come into being--however, I was a late bloomer and never explored it. So now here I am, trying to learn but I get easily confused! But thank gods for my new computer guy "Art", who is a gem!
OK, back to Cambodia! My first trip back was in 1995. As of August 2005, I have returned 25 times. Even after all these trips, I still get as excited as ever about going back! I'll share my travel stories on my 'blog' page soon. I also would love to hear your stories about going back. And when I learn how to do it, I'll post them on this site.
I love going to srok Khmer (For non-Khmers, srok Khmer's literal translation is country of Cambodia). From the moment I set foot on Cambodia's land, I feel more vibrant, alive, happy, and at peace. I am ready to move there, but for now, my work keeps in America. So I return a few times a year, usually in the winter when the weather is frigid here in the east coast.
Anyway, in my many trips to Cambodia, I have eaten at many restaurants, stayed in numerous hotels, and visited many NGOs. Below is a short list of people and places I've met and been to, and/or services I've used to help me navigate my way around srok Khmer. I hope this helps.
FOOD
When I'm in srok Khmer, I eat mostly Khmer food. In my 25 trips back, I have gotten sick only once--and that was in 1995. I am careful to drink bottled or boiled water but that's basically all the precautions I take. Though I wouldn't recommend it to first time visitors to Cambodia, I have to say the fruit smoothies there is the best!
Russian Market is my favorite place to eat. Inside the market is a Khmer style food court where food is great (better than most restaurants!) and cheap, and the people are friendly. When I'm in Phnom Penh, I eat there almost every day. I usually start my day with either the pork blood rice congee, the Phnom Penh noodle soups, Ban Chiev, and lod cha (fried rice noodles). For afternoon snacks, I buy chive cakes or fried salted fish to take home. Around 3pm, I visit the stall selling sweets and deserts where I enjoy the coconut sweet soup, taro paste, and palm fruits.
Restaurants (location & telephone numbers in Phnom Penh guide book you can pick up at most travel agencies & hotels)
Khmer Surin--good Khmer food served in a very nice & relaxing admosphere. For my taste, the food is a bit too westernized.
Pon Lock--great frog legs! Serves mostly Cambodian clientales. Nice view overlooking Tonle Sap river.
FCCC--their Khmer curry is delicious! Their pizzas are very popular.
Ban Thai--great Thai food, a very beautiful restaurant.
Guides in Siem Reap
Narun Van is the best I've met! His English is great, he's young, passionate, very, very knowledgeable, and tells great stories. Narun@pec.rep.forum.org/kh or 015-630-142
